Nick Dear’s In the Ruins was a play about King George III. It preceded Alan Bennett’s The Madness of George III by a couple of years. In contrast to Bennett’s play, Nick’s was a monologue. The King was played by Patrick Malahide.
Though I do remember being in rehearsals, I can’t remember writing music for it, although I was credited for doing so. All I can think of is that I was hired to help Patrick with some singing.
