Yerma is a young woman struggling with an unhappy, unfulfilled marriage and an obsessive compulsion to have a baby.
The social stigma of being childless exacerbates her sadness and desperation and ultimately leads her to commit an act of horrific violence. Does Yerma destroy all her hopes for the future or has she set herself free?
