The American Clock

Working on The Decameron brought my confidence back to a level at which I could look for acting work again, so I was lucky a job dropped into my lap. Andrew McKinnon offered me an actor/MD job at the Theatre Royal, York. The play was Arthur Miller’s quasi-musical, The American Clock, which had been introduced to UK audiences at the National Theatre not long before.

The company was large and friendly, I had a lovely part as a budding songwriter, and Andrew was a sympathetic director. I look back on the production with great affection.
