The handful of musician-only jobs that I’ve done have all been fun, at least in part because they didn’t involve me having any responsibility beyond playing in time and getting the notes right. This one was particularly welcome because the music was by my friend Colin Sell. His score was for two pianos. The other pianist was Stephanie Nunn, with whom unfortunately I didn’t stay in touch, which is baffling as she was so lovely. Chris Honer’s production was excellent, with wonderful Ellie Hannigan as Grusha and Ben Roberts as Azdak. I loved the play, and it only took me five minutes to walk home after the performance. Perfection.
