Chris Honer, still running the Gateway Theatre, Chester, asked me to compose the music for his production of this classic Restoration comedy. I remember that John Levitt was very funny as Lord Foppington, and that Annie Tyson was excellent as Berinthia. I can even recall Annie’s costume, with its dark lace. But I’m blank when it comes to my contribution, which doesn’t say much for it.
