Bristol Old Vic

Until recently, this production at the Bristol Old Vic had completely slipped my mind. It was only when rummaging through the contents of old boxes, which needed to be thrown out in order to give us more storage space, that I ran across a series of notes which I’d made for the sound department. I’d evidently recorded music cues and sent them off to the sound designer to use when making up the show tape (reel-to-reel in those days). From those notes, it looks as though I had only spoken with the director in a phone call — at least, I don’t recall a meeting with him. Maybe the idea to use composed music was a last minute one.
I do dimly recall seeing the production, seeing Malcolm Storry and Dearbhla Molloy as the Macbeths, and my much-missed old friend Peter Copley as King Duncan. But these days I’m no longer confident that what I can only dimly remember actually happened.
